Understanding the Scan Process
Before You Scan
Ensure your site is ready:
- Site is live and accessible
- Not in maintenance mode
- Caching plugin is working normally
- You have at least 256MB PHP memory
Starting the Scan
- Navigate to Technical Auditor > Dashboard
- Click the blue Start Scan button
- The scan proceeds in phases:
Phase 1: URL Discovery
The plugin discovers all public URLs on your site by:
- Reading your sitemap (if available)
- Crawling from the homepage
- Querying the database for published content
Phase 2: Page Analysis
Each URL is loaded and analyzed against 183+ checks. Progress is shown in real-time.
Phase 3: Site-Wide Checks
Some checks run once for the entire site:
- Database health
- Server configuration
- Security settings
- Plugin analysis
During the Scan
- Do not close the browser tab (or enable background processing)
- Progress shows URLs completed vs. total
- You will see critical issues appear in real-time
Scan Duration
Scan time depends on your site size:
- Small site (< 50 pages): 1-2 minutes
- Medium site (100-500 pages): 5-10 minutes
- Large site (1000+ pages): 15-30 minutes
The scan runs in the background - you can leave the page and return later.
What Gets Scanned
The scanner automatically discovers and analyzes:
- All published posts and pages
- Custom post types (products, portfolios, etc.)
- Archive pages (categories, tags, authors)
- The homepage and blog index
Note: The free version scans up to 100 URLs. Premium has no limit.
After the Scan
Results are saved permanently until the next scan. You can:
- Filter and sort issues
- Export to CSV (Premium)
- Compare with previous scans (Premium)
- Apply fixes immediately
